Hi all,

This is my first post, so let me introduce myself. I am relatively new to Aerobatics and flew in an IAC competition for the first time last June. Now as I got the bug I have been looking for an Aerobatic mount.

One of the aircraft that I am considering has a geared Lycoming GO-435. Some of the folks that I have talked to (who are A&P/IA etc.) are advising me against it.

What would the folks suggest? Is a geared engine a no-go on an Aerobatic airplane? Is it maintenance heavy? Is it too much of a risk to take for a newbie like me?

Will appreciate suggestions / advices / opinions.
