October 3, 2006 ********Some Photos are
posted....more to follow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have any photos you would like
posted to the site please send them to me.
This
week is busy with wrapping up paperwork, cleaning up and taking
care of the lost and found! Speaking of this - we have
found a wallet, a guitar and we are missing a contest radio,
please let me know if you have it or know where it might be!!
We also have an aircraft radio that needs identifying. At
the banquet we gave out pilot and category photos. If you
were not there and would like one, please email me your
category, "N" number and address and I will get them to you in a
few weeks.
With 22 pilots competing in the
Unlimited Category, Debby Rihn-Harvey took the 2006 Championship
with Michael Racy placing second and David Martin in third.
Great job Debby! Todd Whitmer is the Advanced Champion
with Mike Galloway in second and Tony Wood in third. We
had 23 competitors in the Advanced Category. The
Intermediate Champion is Bud Judy with Bill Denton in second and
Kevin Campbell in third. The Sportsman Champion is Jenner
Knight and Tom Rhodes placed second followed by Joe Haycraft in
third. The Gliders made a strong appearance this year with
13 flying. Jason Stephens was named the Unlimited Glider
Champion for 2006, followed by Jeremy Stacy in second and Klein
Gilhousen in third. The USAFA also came out strong this
year in the Intermediate and Sportsman Categories.
David Martin is the 4 Minute Free Style
Champion for 2006! We had 10 pilots compete and it was a
great way to close out our week with lots of smoke and great
flying.
The 2007 Unlimited World Team Members
were also chosen: David Martin, Zach Heffley, Robert
Armstrong, Dan Clark, Michael Racy, Allyson Parker-Lauck, Debby
Rihn-Harvey, Melissa Andrzejewski, Chandy Clanton and Vicki
Cruse. Goody Thomas will serve as the alternate.
With 97 competitors we safely flew over
400 flights including practice, competition and rides. We
had a great knowledgeable staff with a lot of experience which
made the contest run super smooth. The weather......what
more can be said........it was next to perfect. Each
evening we held an event in our Hospitality Hangar which really
gave everyone a great opportunity to catch up, talk the day over
and meet our new pilots. There was great food, plenty of
beverages and a few neat door prizes each night. The
sunsets were breath taking and our motto became - "If you didn't
have a good time at Nationals...it was your own fault".
Our Sponsors support gave us the ability to provide a Nationals
to remember - please remember them, thank them and support them
throughout the year.
Look for the
full story on Nationals in the November issue of Sport
Aerobatics. Thank you to all our sponsors, terrific
volunteers and my friends (new and old) who helped make
this a great Nationals.
